HBS Palestine & Jordan

Heinrich Böll Foundation (HBS)  is the oldest partner of Muwatin. The partnership, which started in the early 90's of the past century, continues after Muwatin's move to Birzeit University. All of Muwatin's annual conferences were held in cooperation with HBS. many publications and other activities were also supported by HBS. The Student initiative "The Idea Factory" curretly anchored at Muwatin is also supported by HBS.

The Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO)

The Palestinian NGO Network includes a group of Palestinian civil society institutions that number more than 140 institutions all over Palestine. Muwatin is one of the initiators of this network.

Muwatin and the Institute for Palestine Studies share a range of concerns and work jointly on various occasions including holding joint conferences. 

Central Elections Commission

Central Elections Commission – Palestine

Muwatin is an accredited elections observer at the Central Elections Commission – Palestine.

Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI)

The partnership with Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) dates back to the mid-90s. Both institutes share similar research interests concerning such issues as democratisation, state building and corruption in generally and in the Palestinian context in particular.

Coalition for Accountability and Integrity - AMAN

Muwatin was one of several organizations who initiated the coalition to promote integrity, and accountability. The work with Aman remains a priority to Muwatin, as both organizations share interest in combating corruption and promoting a healthy democracy that protects human rights.  

The University of Windsor

The cooperation between Birzeit Universtiy and the University of Windsor dates back to 2004. Cooperation started in the field of Human Rights with The Institute of Law. The Initiative on Judicial Independence and Human Dignity was established and lasted until 2012. In light of uccessful cooperation the Windsor Birzeit Dignity Initiative, currently hosted at Muwatin was established. Cooperation betweent the two insttiutions comprises teaching, research and community outreach.

Global Campus of Human Rights

Global Campus of Human Rights is a global network of around 100 leading universities providing higher education programmes in human rights and democracy. This network is based on the cooperation between seven regional programmes (each involving several universities) in different places of the world. Birzeit University is a member of the Global Campus for Human Rights.

Saint Joseph University (Beirut)

The cooperation between muwatin and the political science institute at Saint Joseph University in Beirut started in 2016 with the transition of the coordination of the Arabic MA in Democracy and human rights (ARMA) from Veinice to Beirut.

A M Qattan Foundation

Muwatin and A M Qattan Foundation share a vision and thus work collaboratively to implement activities, such as roundtable discussion, focus groups, and workshops together in the areas of intersection. 

Open Society Foundations

The Open Society Foundations' office in the Middle East and North Africa provided the students of the MA Programme in Democracy and Human RIghts with stipends under the programme "Connecting Theory to Practice" that was run under the Dignity Intiative (currently hosted at Muwatin), and through inviting Muwatin to be part of the Open Society Internships in Rights and Gevernance. Later the OSF made a grant for institutional support to Muwatin.

International Institute for Nonviolent Action (NOVACT)

Muwatin’s partnership with NOVACT dates to 2017, and was strengthened when both organizations in partnership with other local CSOs started working on a project together about violent extremism in Palestine in 2019.

Ministry of Interior

Muwatin supports to the efforts of The Ministry of Interior concerning the development of curriculum for a program of continuing education for law enforcement officials on human rights protection.

EUPOL COPPS

EUPOL COPPS provided support for Muwatin’s support to the efforts of The Ministry of Interior concerning the development of curriculum for a program of continuing education for law enforcement officials on human rights protection.

 

IDRC logo

International Development Research Centre (IDRC)

IDRC provided its first grant to Muwatin in 2019 to support a research project on cooperative, youth and education in Palestine. 

PHROCH logo

The Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council (PHROC)

The Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council was established to enable Palestinian human rights NGOs to act collectively to serve a common goal; promoting human rights and the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory. Muwatin became an observer member since 2019.

University of Palermo

Muwatin and The University of Palermo signed a 3 years agreement under the Framework of Erasmus + for academic exchange starting in 2019.

Union of Agricultural Work Committees

Cooperation Muwatin and UAWC started in 2020. Both organizations agreed to work together in planning and creating shared activities especially related to cooperative work in Palestine.

 

Cooperative Work Agency (CWA)

The cooperation between CWA and Muwatin started in 2020, and it aims to enhance the knowledge about cooperative work in Palestine. 

Norwegian Centre for Human Rights

The partnership between Muwatin and the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights started with joint work on a project funded through NORHED 2. The project shall involve several universities working jointly to enhance higher education in the field of human rights.
