The Economic Strategies of Occupation: Confining Development and Buying-off Peace

Primary tabs

Annotation:

This essay focuses on the way Israeli policies and de-development affects the Palestinian economy and keeps it subordinate to the Israeli one, this policy finds its roots since the beginning of settler activity. The author traces the history of de-development and how Israeli policies affected the Palestinian economy in every time period. The post Oslo “peace industry” also aided in this, as donor state policies condition focus on institutional reform because they are unable to tackle anything else or exert pressure on Israel, this is all done while ignoring productive capacity that would be crucial to developing a sovereign economy.
