Annotation:

The essay focuses on reviewing the approach and effects of western donor aid to the Palestinians after 1993 and Oslo. The policies of donors have done their best to appear “neutral” however this neutrality is a political position in of itself, but attempting to appear objective they have worked around the occupation and pretended that Israeli colonialism does not exist. This in turn aids the subsidization of the Israeli occupation and helps Israel in avoiding its responsibilities as an occupier. It also argues that de-development alone cannot explain the reality of political economy in Palestine, as we see enthusiastic support from some areas of society for the current status quo as it is beneficial to their interests.
