A Palestinian novelist, born in al-Masmiyah in 1939. was displaced during the Nakba in Aug. 1948 and lived with his family Damascus. He co-founded the Palestinian Students Association and became its president in 1964. He worked in teaching and journalism until 1971, then he worked for the Palestine Liberation Organization. He served as deputy head of the PLO office in Moscow and head of the Palestinian studies department at its research center. Appointed a member of the Palestinian National Council in 1988.
