Professor at the Universities of Bethlehem and Birzeit, And the head of the administrative board of the rapprochement center in Beit Sahour. He previously served on the faculties of the University of Tennessee, Duke, and Yale Universities.  He is director of the main clinical cytogenetics laboratory and founder and director of the Palestine Museum of Natural History and Institute for Biodiversity Research at Bethlehem University in occupied Palestine, He contributed to the establishment and management of a number of groups and institutions in favor of the Palestinian cause, including: the American Campaign to End the Occupation, the Right of Return Coalition, the Palestinian American Congress, the Democratic League of One State in Israel / Palestine, His interests focus on Palestinian rights, popular resistance and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
